This is a small unit study about discovery where students in a family setting discover not only the history of famous explorers and their notable explorations, but also the geography of the globe. Each is made from notes of a project a group of families did together several years ago. Please feel free to adapt it to your needs as you embark on learning journeys of your own.
In this study, each participant becomes an explorer as they look into the past at what people have done before us, as they go to places they have never been before. They will try new foods, learn new skills and explore the globe to gain a better understand of the wonderful, wild world we live in, and maybe even discover things about themselves.
Are you an Explorer of the globe? Put your picture here.
... to some friends who did a version of this project as a cooperative adventure in 2002. The experience of learning and the material is too good not to pass on, so I post a rendition of it here.
Thanks Maryjane, Jane, Lynn, Jan, Sarah, Keri, Debbie and Kim, but especially Maryjane.
Thanks MJ for your dedication to exploration, learning and making things fun!
